Dieppe is New Brunswick’s fourth-most-populous city with a history that dates back to the eighteenth century. In 1952 it was first incorporated as a town and in 2003 designated as a city. Its name comes from a port on the English Channel, in France and in 1946 the name was adopted by the citizens of the area to commemorate the Second World War’s Operation Jubilee, the Dieppe Raid of 1942.

 

A majority of the population here reports being bilingual, speaking both English and French.

 

In 2011, the population was 23,310.Dieppe.
