Atholville

Atholville, New Brunswick, Canada

 

Atholville is a village in New Brunswick Canada. It has a population of 1,237.

 

The Mi’kmaq first settled here the 6th century BC. They were a village of 400 and called themselves Tjikog. In 1750 the Acadians arrived.

 

In 1966 it became a village and in 1974 a shopping center was built there. Currently the village is still majority Acadian.
