Beresford, New Brunswick, Canada


Beresford is a town located on the shore of Chaleur Bay, New Brunswick. It is in the county of Gloucester and is locate north of Bathurst.


The town was named after the British general William Beresford, 1st Viscount Beresford. He was commander of the Portuguese troops which were a part of Wellington’s army in the Peninsular War from 1808 to 1814.


The beach a major attraction to the area. The beach has a boardwalk, changing rooms, showers and is a major tourist area. The beach also has an observation tower that you can look out over the marshes.


In the winter they hold a snow sculpture carnival called “Carnaval du Siffleux”.
